Ladies Bow Out Of Leinster!
17-10-2016

St Lomans Mullingar 1.06 St Laurences 5.05

St Lomans ladies entered new territory when hosting Kildare Champions St Laurences in Lakepoint Park on Sunday afternoon last in the Leinster Championship Semi Final.

St Lomans made the perfect start with a Ciara Blundell shot hitting the back of the net after two minutes. Both Katie Layde and Aileen Martin were denied further goals by the visitors goalkeeper Ciara Farrell. St Laurences sprung into life mid way through the half and three goals left St Lomans with a mountain to climb. Leona Archibold (2) and Sarah Mc Manus kicked points for the blues but they trailed 3.02 to 1.03 at the interval.

St Lomans added points early in the second half as they tried in vain to get a way back into the game. St Laurence’s full forward Emer Fogarty put the game beyond doubt when she completed her hat trick for the visitors fourth goal. Both teams traded scores in the closing stages but it was the Kildare side that progressed to the final.

The result brings an end to the ladies season but what a year it has been! A league and championship double is a remarkable achievement so well done to all involved!
