Family Affair In Division 5!
23-04-2018

St Lomans Mullingar 0.04 Rosemount 4.14

The late withdrawal of several key players over the previous twenty-four hours meant that St. Lomans fielded a very diverse team last Saturday evening in Lakepoint Park.

There were good performances from Andy Purcell and Cathal Burke at 3 and 6 respectively, and others to play well included youngsters like Baker, Boyce, McKenna, Cox, McNamee and Nugent.

Last year witnessed this side field a father-and-son partnership (Jack & Jonathan Nugent), last Saturday saw this satisfying feat repeated when Stephen Sheridan lined out at corner back with his father Martin in goals.

This game will probably be best-remembered for the reappearance of some of the more senior club members, with some donning the blue jersey for the first time in years. Division 5 selector (and club Chairman) Aidan Davitt played the entire game on the half forward line alongside his illustrious brother James. Dwayne Egerton never lost his scoring touch and slotted over 3 nice points from play, and there were also solid performances from stalwarts Adam Carroll, Aido Charles and Tommy Lambden.

Rosemount were the better team on the day and fully deserved their win, however the sixteen players who participated with the Blues last Saturday can hold their heads high, as despite the unflattering score line St. Lomans acquitted themselves well considering the circumstances.
