St Lomans Mullingar 2.18 St Marys Rochfortbridge 1.07

St Lomans booked their place in the minor championship semi final with an impressive display in Lakepoint Park against St Marys Rochfortbridge on Wednesday evening last.  A wonderful second half display was the catalyst of this win with Frank Kavanagh, Shane Broughan, Sam Mc Cartan, Enda Gaffney and Conan O Hara the stand out performers in an all round decent game from the blues. 

St Lomans were guilty of numerous first half wides as it took them time to get their accuracy boots on. Conan O Hara and Frank Kavanagh both kicked a brace of points either side of Rochfortbridge scores. The visitors were unlucky not to raise the green flag after rattling the crossbar bar. It was from here St Lomans stepped up the gears and points from Cian Cleary and Conan O Hara extended the blues lead. The blues registered their first goal five minutes before the break when a Sam Mc Cartan pass found Paul Smith who made no mistake a finished to the net. Fola Ayorinde kicked a free off the ground to see the blues lead 1.07 to 0.04 at half time.

St Lomans dominated the second half with a super team display. Cian Cleary added a point to his tally while Conan O Hara was deadly accurate from placed balls while adding points from play too. Sam Mc Cartan deservingly got his name on the scoresheet too. Shane Boyce and Fola Ayorinde linked up well for the blues second goal with Boyce fisting to the net. Rochfortbridge added a late 1.01 but it was too late as the Blues finished comfortable winners.
