Senior Ladies Championship

St Lomans Mullingar 1.09 Killucan 0.05

St Lomans Ladies booked their place in the Championship final with a hard earned win against Killucan in The Downs on Tuesday evening last. The heroics of Amy Matthews in goals proved decisive with the blues keeper denying Killucan goals on five occasions!

Points from Ciara Blundell, Vicky Carr and Leona Archibold gave St Lomans a three point lead. Killucan were given an opportunity to level matters when they were awarded a penalty but Amy Matthews had other ideas and saved the kick. The blues keeper denied them again later in the half but Killucan did register two points from Fiona Leavy and Ciara O Looney. Ciara Blundell pointed in between these as St Lomans had a two point lead at the break.

A goal was always going to be the difference in a tight game like this and when a goal is needed Ciara Blundell usually steps up which she duly did three minutes into the half.  Her left footed lob found its way to the net and the blues took control from here. Points from Bridgie Heslin(2) and Leona Archibold(3) were enough to cancel out three second half points from Killucan.

St Lomans defence stood strong when Killucan mounted pressure with Muireann Scally and Rebecca Dunne leading the line along with the hard working Lucy Mc Cartan. The blues held on for a seven point win and now play Milltown in the decider. The Final is confirmed for this Saturday September 9th in The Downs at 4.30pm.

U16 Championship

St Lomans Mullingar 2.18 Killucan 2.12

St Lomans and Killucan battled out a thriller in Lakepoint Park on Monday evening last in their championship quarter final. Substitute Nathan Mc Cullagh proved the hero for St Lomans scoring a goal to equalise deep into injury time to force the game into extra time.

Killucan were without doubt the better team in the first half and would have been disappointed with just a two point lead at the break. The woodwork denied them two certain goals while blues goalkeeper Rory Matthews stopped another goal opportunity. Full back Rory Sheehan‘s display proved to be a thorn in their side! Fionn O Hara and Enda Gaffney were point scorers for St Lomans.

St Lomans improved in the second half and although they conceded two early points they were level heading into the final quarter thanks to points from Enda Gaffney (2), Cian Cleary and Danny Mc Cartan. Both teams traded points but a Jamie Leavy point gave the blues the lead for the first time. Killucan battled back and a quick goal and a point looked to have given them enough to win the game. St Lomans had other ideas and a move deep into injury time involving Ricardo Lingi and Konrad Kuperschmidt made its way to Nathan Mc Cullagh. The substitute showed composure beyond his years and his shot rolled into the net to force extra time.

Extra time proved a step too far for Killucan as St Lomans kicked five unanswered points with Fionn O Hara and Ricardo Lingi among the scorers. Killucan battled their way back into the game and got their second goal with five minutes to play but points from Cian Cleary and Josh Murphy along with a Jamie Leavy goal booked St Lomans place in the semi final.

Team; Rory Matthews, Evan Johnson, Rory Sheehan, Daire Smith, Josh Murphy, Konrad Kuperschmidt, Alex Corroon, Fionn O Hara, Enda Gaffney, Ricardo Lingi, Cian Cleary, James Carolan, C Regan, Jamie Leavy, Danny Mc Cartan. Subs Used; Nathan Mc Cullagh, Kealon Sleator, Rory King.
