ACL Division 1

St Lomans Mullingar 0.06 Garrycastle 2.20

St Lomans hopes of retaining the Division 1 League Title are all but over after suffering a heavy defeat in Garrycastle on Friday night last.  St Lomans without several first team starters were

never in this game and the result looked ominous from early on.

Garrycastle raced into an early lead with points from Tom O Halloran and Dessie Dolan(2) before James Sheerin raised the green flag reacting quickest to a shot rebounding off the crossbar. Dessie Dolan proved too hot to handle in the opening half adding a further three points to his tally. David Windsor eventually got the blues on the scoreboard with a point but the home side added further scores before the break.

St Lomans improved slightly in the second half with Billy O Loughlin(3), Paddy Dowdall and David Windsor adding points to the blues tally. The result was never in doubt with Tom O Halloran adding Garrycastle’s second goal eight minutes into the half. Further points from the home side sealed a one-sided game.

Team; Stephen Gallagher, Neil O Toole, Shane Flynn, Sean Lancaster, Kieran Lynam, Paddy Dowdall(0.01), Gary Glennon, David Whelan, Daniel Sheridan, Chris Gilbert, David Windsor(0.02), Adam Lynch, Michael Gleeson, Billy O Loughlin(0.03,2f), Garrett Hickey. Subs Used; Eoghan O Keeffe, Sean Kelly, Jack Tyrrell.

Division 3

The Division 3 Team suffered a heavy defeat to a strong Ballynacargy team in Ballynacargy on Saturday evening last.  The home side made an impressive start clocking up some fine scores. Points from Garrett Hickey kept St Lomans in touch before Ballynacargy buried home a few goals. Daniel Sheridan registered two spectacular second half goals for St Lomans but it was to no avail as Ballynacargy cruised to victory.

U10 & U8 Girls

Our U10 and U8 girls took part in their first blitz of the season in Killucan last week. Fielding two teams at each age grade, we competed against our hosts and St Mary’s Rochfortbridge. The girls played outstanding football on the night, showing a lot of skill and kicking some great scores. Well done girls. Thank you to Killucan for being wonderful hosts on the night.

Westmeath Senior Ladies

Well done to the Westmeath Senior Ladies team who staged a great comeback to draw the Division 2 League Final against Cavan. In a thrilling game, St Lomans girls figured prominently with Aileen, Ciara, Leona, Lucy and Rebecca all playing for the full 60 minutes, and Katie on the bench. Ciara deservedly picked up the player of the match award with two outstanding goals. We are eagerly looking forward to the replay.
