Under 13 Leinster League:

Well done to our Under 13 Boys who beat Ferbane by a score-line of 2.06 to 2.04 to reach the final of the Leinster League. Well done lads on a fantastic achievement!

Under 14 League Division 1:

It was a busy day on Monday for the under 14 boys today as both the Division 1 team and Division 3 team played Mullingar Shamrocks.

First up at 3 was the Division 1 game away in Springfield. It was a competitive game with little between the teams throughout the entire game. The pivotal moment in the game came with 5 minutes to go when Seanaí Bracken had a shot saved off the line but JJ McNamee was quickest to react and converted for the decisive winning score. There were lots of strong performances throughout the field, Byron Graham and Riley Sheehan were exceptional in Defence and both are turning out to be natural born leaders on the pitch.

Louis Mcgrath played in Goals and kept a clean sheet despite the best attempts of the home team. Adam Brady and Calum Dolan worked hard all game to Keep the very good Shamrocks corner forwards at bay.

Nathan Sleator and Seanaí Bracken worked tirelessly on the wings combining both attack and defence.

Luke Heduvan and Ross Killalea held the middle of the park against a Strong Shamrocks midfield, contributing to attacks by driving forward and breaking the Shamrocks half back line.

Up front Shane Mulldarry, Mark Tunney and Jamie Ronan worked hard to link defense to attack. Not to mention plenty of opportunities created by all three boys.

Our full forward line of David Geoghegan, JJ McNamee and Ben McGrath’s movements on the ball and off the ball opened up space and all three were instrumental.

Under 14 Division 3:

St. Loman’s U14 boys got their Division 3 league off to a good start this evening in Lakepoint against our near neighbours Shamrocks.

The boys settled in well and were a couple of points to the good early with Sean Tully and Shane Cunningham tapping over.

In Defence Cillian Kelly, Aaron Smith, and Sean Daly were kept busy, but were on top form, and around the middle of the park Jamie Ledwith and the Cunningham boys (James and Shane) both won more than their fair share of 50/50 balls. Our lads pulled ahead towards the end for a hard fought win.

Thanks to Shamrocks for an exciting and competitive game.

Street League:

The 2019 chapter of the St Loman’s ‘Street League’ is being finalised and we’re excited to announce that the games will commence on Wednesday, May 1st.

This year’s competition has been expanded to include our under-8 and under-10 boys along with the under-10 and under-12 girls which means there’ll be over 150 kids playing games across eight pitches in what promises to be entertainment-packed evenings in Lakepoint Park throughout the entire month of May. Members of our senior Men and ladies sides will be mentoring the teams with leading figures like John Heslin, Ronan O’Toole and Lucy McCartan imparting words of advice and encouragement to our impressionable young stars.

So to recap: brothers, sisters, friends, neighbours and classmates all pitted together in a bid to become the Street League champions of 2019. Fun, laughter and cherished memories guaranteed. It truly is a unique event within our club and we can’t wait for it to get started!

Keep tuned as we introduce the teams over the coming weeks! And don’t forget, registration continues every Saturday morning for new members.

Under 16 League:

St Loman’s Under 16s played their fourth game of this year’s League in a cold Lakepoint Park on Friday evening against Lilliput Gaels.

After 8 minutes they had conceded two goals, one a penalty that Daire Keane got his hand to but couldn’t keep out. The Blues were trailing 2-1 to 1 point .The Saints fought back and went into the break trailing by a point.

The Second half saw St Loman’s put in a gutsy team performance with both teams contributing to a good game of football. Nedas in midfield was excellent and took the fight to the opposition, there were also good displays from Owen Kenny and Ciaran Nooney in defence. Not to mention Cian Daly and Tyreke Creevy up front. The game ended in a draw, St Loman’s 10pts, Lilliput Gaels 2-4.

Next up is Tyrellspass away.

Condolences:

St Loam’s would like to offer its condolences to the Carley Family following the passing of Michael (Mick) Carley, Newcastle, Tyrrellspass, Westmeath.
