U14 Boys Charge Into Final!
19-09-2017

St Lomans Mullingar 3.08 Shandonagh 0.03

St Lomans booked their place in the U14 Championship final with a hard fought win against Shandonagh in Ballynacagy on Saturday afternoon last. The wet conditions didn’t deter from a decent game of football.

It was Shandonagh who mounted early pressure in a low scoring opening quarter. They opened the scoring after eight minutes with a point but St Lomans soon took the lead when corner forward Daniel Ojo coolly finished to the net to raise the green flag. Shandonagh responded with a point of their own but this would be their last score until late in the second half mainly due to outstanding defending from St Lomans. Finn Sheehan and Evan Johnson were the stand out performers. Cillian Browne was on target with a point for St Lomans as they had a 1.03 to 0.02 lead at half time.

St Lomans made the perfect start to the second half when Ciaran Nooney charged through the Shandonagh defence and buried to the net to raise the green flag. Eoghan Hogan and Bonvi Ndevi added points to extend the blues lead. Goalkeeper Darragh Keane made a brilliant save to deny Shandonagh a goal. Substitute Cillian Plunkett added a point while Cillian Browne also added to his tally to seal the win for St Lomans.
