U21's Cruise Into Quarter Final

St Lomans Mullingar 3.19 Ballynacargy 1.07


St Lomans booked their place in the Quarter final of the U21 Championship after a facile win against Ballynacargy on Tuesday evening last in Lakepoint Park. It was a competitive affair in the early stages but a Sean Lancaster goal in the 22nd minute was the turning point as the blues never looked back after the green flag was raised.


Troy Maher who was Ballynacargy’s main threat opened the scoring in the first minute. James Cox (2) and Ronan O Toole responded with points for St Lomans. The aforementioned Maher gave his team the lead with a well taken goal on the 10th minute mark. Both teams traded points midway through the half with Adam Lynch, Ronan O Toole and Chris Gilbert on target for the blues. St Lomans corner back Sean Lancaster made a crucial catch in his own half and a wonderful run up the pitch exchanging passes along the way Eoin Fox saw Lancaster bury to the net. It was from here the blues took control and added further points to ensure a five-point lead at the break.


It was a dominant second half display from St Lomans with a number of players excelling. Sean Flanagan was impressive at midfield while Adam Lynch added a further 1.02 to his name. Chris Gilbert also got in on the act scoring 1.01 while Sean Flanagan, Declan Colgan, James Cox, Tristan Johnson and Shane Cleary added points in a comfortable win for St Lomans.
